This has no connection to the previous excerpt, but it's intended for the same piece.
Dragons.
Vicious creatures they were. A vast wingspan spreading across two city blocks. Claws that could cut through rock and steel. Impenetrable scales enriched with a deep crimson. Spikes tipped with a hint of noir jutted out every half metre, snaking along from the neck to the tip of the tail, forming a crystal-like structure at the end. Claws that mirrored the crystal sharpness of the tail-end curled menacingly, reflecting the malice that pulsated from the slitted eyes; the eyes of the devil.
She witnessed the majestic creatures for the first time, enclosed within clear, cylindrical tanks. The fluid bubbled gently as the floating creatures hovered near death, their eyes emanating a cold yet piercing stare. The monitors glowed in the dim laboratory, spurting out pretty graphs and technical jargon. She stared at the monitors intently.
“Water temperature is 18 degrees Celsius. Energy Output at 94.5%. Biosignals are stable. There seems to be a slight fluctuation in the hydrostatic pressure which may lower the power to fluid ratio…”
She opened her eyes; the machinery rematerialised in front of her in a clearance of blur. Stumbling out of her trance, the newly promoted *insert position name* tried to grasp her surroundings. The low hum of the machines complimented the calm undertones of the space. What was it that she just said? She stared at the monitors again, trying to decipher the complicated graphs and almost foreign jargon.
This is Meli's story/plot idea. I have no idea where it's going, I just do the writing!
